SHIRDI-The Land of Sai

Shirdi is the abode of one of the most revered saint Sai Baba of Shirdi. The temple premises of Shri Saibaba are spread in approximately 200 sq. mtrs in the heart of Shirdi village. Sai Baba of Shirdi also known as Shirdi Sai Baba, was an Indian spiritual master who was and is regarded by his devotees as an avatar of God, saint, fakir and satguru. Popularly known as the 'Child of God', Sai Baba preached tolerance towards all religions and the message of universal brotherhood.

He was revered by both his Muslim and Hindu devotees, and during, as well as after, his life it remained uncertain if he was a Muslim or Hindu himself. He gave no distinction based on religion or caste. He had no love for perishable things and his sole concern was self-realization. He taught a moral code of love, forgiveness, helping others, charity, contentment, inner peace, and devotion to God and guru. One of his well known epigrams, "Sabka Malik Ek" ("One God governs all"), is associated with Sufism and Islam.

Shirdi was the home of Sai Baba, the great saint of the 20th century. The saint lived in Shirdi for more than 50 years of his life. The Shirdi temple complex includes Khandoba, Gurusthan, Samadhi Mandir, Dwarkamai, Chavadi and Lendi Baug. Maruti Temple and Shani Temple, constructed under the supervision of Shirdi Sai Baba, are the other places of attraction in Shirdi.
