Chaitra Navratri the beginning of Hindu New year is a full nine days worship ceremony of Shakti. In this year 2021 Navratri (nava meaning nine and ratri meaning nights) will begin on April 13, Tuesday, 2021 and conclude on April 21, Wednesday 2021. The nine nights of Navaratri are the most auspicious and unique period for devotional sadhanas and worship of Godess Shakti. Worshipping Mother Durga in Navratri starts with the kalash installation, barley sowing, reciting Durga Saptashati is pleased, Havan and Kanya Pujan. The Kalash installation time is from 5:45 am to 9:59 am on April 13, 2021. Navratri begins from the pratipada date of Shukla Paksha of Chaitra Month. During Chaitra Navratri devotees of Goddess Durga observe a vrat for nine consecutive days and follow a set of colour codes.

Navaratri Puja Samagri (items)
Items which are required to perform the Navratri pooja, may include:
i). The picture or clay statue of Goddess Shakti (Durga)
iii). Durga Sapthashati Book (Holy Book)
iv). Fresh Water in Kalash (pitcher)
v). Fresh mango leaves (washed by Water)
vi). One coconut ( For Kalash Sthapana)
vii). Roil or Kumkum(red color for tilak)
viii). Kalawaa/Mauli (red sacred thread)
ix). Chawal (rice)
x). Honey
xii). Barely seeds
xiii). Paan (betel leaves)
xiv).Supari (beetle nuts)
xv). Cloves
xvi). Cardamom
xvii). Kumkum (vermilion)
xviii). Gulal
xiv). Dhoop and matchstick.
xx). Red flowers include rose, lotus and hibiscus

Simple Pooja Vidhi
1). Before performing the puja, take bath in the morning and wear laundered clothes.
2). Place the picture or clay statue of Goddess Shakti (Durga) at your puja room.
3). Light the Deepak (lamp) and Dhoop.
4). Then, fill the kalash with water and put a coin and a Supari (beetle nuts) inside it.
5). Place mango leaves on the mouth of kalash and then place a coconut (rapped with the red colour chunri) over on the mango leaves.
6). Put some rice (chawal) on flower and now the Kalash put on it in northeast direction.
7). Now, tie moli on the neck of the Kalash (pitcher).
8). Now put some mud in a container and sowing the Barely seeds in it.
9). Now worship the deity with Kumkum (vermilion), rice, flowers, kumkum and gulal.
10). Dedicate Paan (betel leaves), Supari (beetle nuts), Cloves, Cardamom, Flowers include rose, lotus and red hibiscus, Fresh Fruits and Sweets like peda as prasad to the deity.
Chant Durga Saptashati or Devi Kavach or ask a pundit to do it, to conclude the puja with kanya or kanjak pujan.
Once the Durga Saptashati paath completed, Light the incense sticks and dhoop and perform the aarti. The one among the sacred Durga mantras to chant during Navratri.
