Chamba is famous for its untouched natural beauty. The town of Chamba, located in the blossom of green mountains with perennial falls and streams, it is one of those places that not only lives up to its image, but exceeds it. A travel to this place evokes many images, fairy-tale snow-capped mountain vistas, rushing torrent of the Ravi River and beautiful temples. One of the most famous hill stations in India that has been holding a magical allure for travelers.

In the bansauli or genealogical rolls of the Chamba Rajas a reference occurs of place which was adorned with highly fragrant Champaka trees and guarded by Goddess Champavati or more popularly known as Chameshni. The temple was built by Sahil Varman in the honour of his daughter Champavati who is worshipped as a goddess in Chamba.

LOCATION : Chamba the headquarters of the Chamba district is situated at an average elevation of 1,006 meters in north Indian state Himachal Pradesh.

LANGUAGE : Hindi, English, Himachali (Pahari).

WHEN TO VISIT : In summer season from the middle of April to last week of June. The weather here remains quite pleasing and ideal to visit Chamba. In winter from Mid Dec. to Feb. tourist come here to enjoy for snow fall.

The nearest airport is Gaggal is 116 km from Chamba and its connected by various airlines with Delhi and other cities of India. You can easily get taxis and buses to the reach Chamba.
