Situated on the banks of the Indus River Ladakh is famous for its dramatic landscape and Buddhist heritage. Rock carvings found in many parts of Ladakh indicate that the area has been inhabited from Neolithic times. Buddhism spread into Ladakh from Kashmir in the 2nd century. The most attractive features of the Landscape are the Buddhists Gompas or Monasteries.

To set up your base in Leh is the best way to to explore this cold desert. Drive off to any direction from Leh and you’ll only find pristine beauty and serenity. The cold desert of Ladakh offers travelers a chance to participate in adventure sports like mountaineering, white water rafting and trekking. Wonderful view of colorful mountains and amazing landscape makes it one of the most favorite trekking destination. The passes for trekking are as high as 5,000 m in altitude are open from the June end up to mid October.

By Bus

Ladakh is connected by good motorable roads to all major places. There are excellent bus services provided by State Road Transport Corporation, connecting Ladakh to other nearby cities.

By Train

The nearest railhead is Jammu Tawi is connected with all major cities and towns in India. Taxis are available from Jolly Grant Airport to reach Ladakh.

By Air

Kushok Bakula Rimpochee Airport Leh is connected by flights with Delhi, Jammu and Srinagar. Taxis are available from airport to reach Ladakh.
