Pachmarhi

Pachmarhi “The Queen of Satpura Hills” is a bowl shaped mount resort lies in the most fascinating valley of the Satpura hill range. The name Pachmarhi is derived from the Hindi words Panch ("five") and Marhi ("caves"). During their fourteen years of exile these caves were built by five Pandava brothers of Mahabharatha era. Pandav caves, Jata Shankar cave, Satpura National Park, and Big Falls are the major attractions of Pachmarhi.

Captain James Forsyth discovered the place in 1857 and quickly developed into hill station and sanatorium for British troops in the Central Provinces of India. Renowned as the most luxuriant gem of Madhya Pradesh, Pachmarhi still has remnants of the colonial past with the Victorian churches, bungalows and a number of colonial buildings.

Pachmarhi is a viewer’s delight throughout the year tourist can see listen and observe its Scenic Beauty, Caves, Rock - paintings, cascading Waterfalls and Wildlife. With the Sunrise you will hear the chirping of birds, murmuring rivulets, waterfall and experience the hypnotic hills and shadowy trees. The pristine hill station has been added to the list of UNESCO Biosphere Reserves in May 2009. It is also a good place for parasailing, trekking and rock climbing.
