Sanchi is a unesco world heritage site erstwhile name was ‘Vidishagiri’ which is renowned for its Buddha stupas and monuments. Situated about 68 km. north of Bhopal the town is an important Buddhist pilgrimage center of India. It has numerous monasteries, stupas, temples and pillars that are here from the 3rd century BC to the 12th century AD.
It is believed that Buddha never visited Sanchi in his lifetime. But the Buddha’s greatest disciple Mauryan Emperor Ashoka came here and built The most famous Stupa 1, known as the Great Stupa. Sanchi was re-discovered in 1818 by a British officer, General Taylor.
It is one of the important pilgrim spots for all the Buddhist devotees where they come from different parts of the world. The Stupa also enshrines the vestiges of the two Buddhist gurus, namely Kasyapagotra and Suvijayita. Sanchi symbolizes victory of peace over war. Apart from historical and religious sites, Sanchi is visited for its landscapes as well.

Vidisha is the most convenient railheads (10 km) and Bhopal (46 km) away from Sanchi. These Railway Station are well connected to all major railway stations in India.
Raja Bhoj Airport in Bhopal is the nearest airport to Sanchi, which is situated 46 km away. Flights to all the big cities are available from Bhopal.
