In Tibetan translation it means The Stockade of Kings Ministers, and the hill people also call “Kalimpong” as “Kalibong” meaning “Black Spurs”.

Nearest railway stations New Jalpaiguri (NJP) that is directly connected by rail to all the major places in India. Taxis and buses are available outside the railway station for transit to Kalimpong.

By Air

Bagdogra is the nearest airport situated around 78 km from the city of Kalimpong. It is connected by flights to major cities of India. Taxis are available from Bagdogra Airport to reach Kalimpong.
