KOCHI - Gateway to Kerala

Kochi also known as Cochin is one of the most picturesque places in Kerala. Located on the West Coast on India, the city flanked by the Western ghats in the East and the Arabian Sea in the west. The name of modern city is derived from the Malayalam words, Koch Azhi, meaning 'small lagoon'. Kochi has been rated in the top three tourist destinations by the World Travel & Tourism Council.

Kochi is one of the most historically rich places in India. It was an important spice trading centre on the west coast of India from the 14th century. The city has been under the rule of multitudinous dynasties like the Arabs, the Chinese, the British, the Dutch, and the Portuguese. The port city of Kochi was the first of the European colonies in colonial India.

The city has also emerged as a tourist hub of South India and is commonly referred to as the ‘Gateway to Kerala’. Attracting tourists from around the world, Kochi offers some of the beautiful tourist places like Kaladi, Mattancherry Palace (Dutch Palace), Chendamangalam, Chottanikkara Bhagavathy Temple, Chottanikkara, Fort Kochi, Jewish Synagogue, Chinese Fishing Nets for enjoying wonderful and memorable moments in the city.

The backwaters are major highlights of Kochin. The city also has a strong inclination towards the arts and tourists visiting Kochi can visit places like the Kerala Folklore Theatre where people can watch plays or even spend time at the museum. How To Reach

By Bus

Kochi is connected by good motorable roads to all major places. There are excellent bus services provided by State Road Transport Corporation, connecting Kochi to other nearby cities.

By Train

Trains running from the 3 railway stations in Kochi namely Harbour Terminus on Willingdon Island, Ernakulum town and Ernakulum Junction. There are frequent rail services from the railway station to various other major cities of the country. From outside the railway station you can get taxis to reach any desired location.

By Air

Kochi International Airport at Nedumbassery is situated at a distance of about 37 km from Kochi city center. The airport is well connected to most major cities of the country and abroad. Taxis can be hired from the airport and this is a good way to reach the place.
