Jim Corbett National Park is an ecotourism destination contains 488 different species of plants and a diverse variety of fauna. Established in the year 1936 as Hailey National Park, Corbett has the glory of being India's oldest and most prestigious National Park. The whole area of the park is comprises of hills, marshy depressions, riverine belts, grasslands and large lake.

Corbett has been a haunt for tourists and wildlife lovers for a long time. The park is established in 1936 as Hailey National Park is named after Jim Corbett, the famous naturalist and the legendary hunter of the man-eaters of Kumaon. Tourism activity is only allowed in selected areas of Corbett Tiger Reserve so that people get an opportunity to see its splendid landscape and the diverse wildlife.

Corbett tiger reserve has a great verity of fauna on account of habitat diversity. Dense moist deciduous forest covers almost 73% of the park, 10% of the area consists of grasslands. Flat valleys are interspersed with hilly ridges and the Park's rolling grasslands provide an excellent view of its rich eco system.

Dhikala, the main tourist centre in Jim Corbett National Park, is well connected by motorable roads with different places. There are excellent bus services provided by private and State Road Transport Corporation, connecting Dhikala to other nearby cities.

By Train

Ramnagar is the nearest rail-head to Jim Corbett National Park. However Kathgodam is more convenient is which is 80 km away from the Tiger Reserve are well connected with major cities in India.

By Air

Nearest domestic airport Pantnagar is 78 km. away from Jim Corbett National Park. Flight services from Delhi to Pantnagar is available. The most convenient airport is New Delhi International airport is 300 km. away from the National Park.

JEEP SAFARI IN JIM CORBETT: Jim Corbett National Park consists of mixed vegetation ranging from tall grasslands to thick Sal forest and so is the perfect habitat of variety of animals and birds. JEEP Safari at Jim Corbett is a delight for adventure lovers and wildlife photographers. It explores especially those places, which are difficult to travel via any other mode of transportation.

Jeep Safaris at Jim Corbett can be done in morning and afternoon Shift. The morning shift starts early at the time of Sunrise up to 04 hrs & the afternoon one starts in between 02 PM to 03 PM up to sunset. 6 passengers are allowed in each Open Jeep to travel along with one naturalist and one driver. It is advisable to book safari rides in well advance to avoid any chance of unavailability.

ELEPHANT SAFARI IN JIM CORBETT: Elephant Safari in Corbett is the most attractive part for the enthusiastic tourists. You can view the entire area of the park over a tamed elephant. Elephant safaris are arranged by the tourist department.

Sitting on the top of the elephant in a wooden cushioned chair and moving through the undulated hilly terrains spot tigers, viewing the wild animals, rare avian fauna and spectacular plant fauna is really an adventurous experience for any traveler.
