Bandhavgarh National Park

Bandhavgarh National Park is one of the popular national parks in India was declared a national park in 1968. The park is lying in between the Vindhyan and Satpura ranges of Madhya Pradesh. Bandhavgarh was the hunting ground of the Maharajas of Rewa. It was considered a good omen for the Rewa Maharaja to shoot 108 tigers, the numbers coinciding with the beads in the Hindu rosary.

The centre of the park is dominated by the majestic Bandhavgarh Fort, around which is numerous caves containing shrines and ancient Sanskrit inscriptions. According to legend, it is believed that the Bandhavgarh Fort was given to Lakshman by his brother Lord Ram (bandhav means brother, hence the name Bandhavgarh).

The park has a large breeding population of leopards, and various species of deer. The density of the tiger population at Bandhavgarh is the highest known in India. Bandhavgarh considered as the real home of white tigers but the park provides shelter to several Indian wildlife species like Bison, Cheetals, Langgors and Sambars.

OPENING OF PARK : Every Year Bandhavgarh National Park remains open from 15th October to 15th June for visitors. The park is close from July to October for visitors.

JEEP Safari at Bandhavgarh is a delight for adventure lovers and wildlife photographers. It explores especially those places, which are difficult to travel via any other mode of transportation.

Jeep Safaris at Bandhavgarh can be done in morning and afternoon Shift. The morning shift starts early at the time of Sunrise up to 04 hrs & the afternoon one starts in between 02 PM to 03 PM up to sunset. 6 passengers are allowed in each Open Jeep to travel along with one naturalist and one driver. It is advisable to book safari rides in well advance to avoid any chance of unavailability.

ELEPHANT SAFARI IN BANDHAVGARH : Elephant Safari in Bandhavgarh is the most attractive part for the enthusiastic tourists. You can view the entire area of the park over a tamed elephant. Elephant safaris are arranged by the tourist department.
