Banadipur National Park

Located in picturesque surroundings of the towering Western Ghat Mountains on the Mysore-Ooty highway in Karnataka, Bandipur National Park is famous for its significant tiger and elephant population and protected sandalwood trees. The National Park is one of India's most delightful wildlife sanctuaries.

Once the personal hunting grounds of Mysore maharajas, the Bandipur National Park is a great example of Project Tiger’s conservation efforts. The Bandipur tiger reserve has a high density of tiger in the Western ghats landscape. The park has a variety of biomes including dry deciduous forests, moist deciduous forests and shrub lands.

Along with Nagarhole National Park, Mudumalai National Park and Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary; it forms a part of the highly renowned Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve. The park is India's biggest biosphere reserve popularly known as the 'Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve'.

OPENING OF PARK : Bandipur National Park open throughout the year to visitors.

PERMIT : Permits obtain from the concerned park authority before you make entry to the Reserve. Tourists can obtain day visit permit at the respective entry gates.

ENTRY FEE

For Indian nationals is Rs. 300 per person.

For foreign national the entry fee Rs. 1100 per person for a visit.

SAFARI TIMING : Safari timings are indicative and may change any time, they may cancel in last minutes due to bad weather conditions, heavy rains, manpower etc., hence request you to contact Forest Department and then plan your day.

JEEP SAFARI IN BANDIPUR: Bandipur National Park consists is one of the beautiful wildlife sanctuary located in south India with perfect habitat of variety of animals and birds. JEEP Safari at Bandipur is a delight for adventure lovers and wildlife photographers. It explores especially those places, which are difficult to travel via any other mode of transportation.

Jeep Safaris at Bandipur can be done in morning and afternoon Shift. There are two Jeeps and five Gypsy available at Bandipur forest department that are used for safaris. The jeep can accommodate up to 6 people per safari.

VAN SAFARI IN BANDIPUR: Van safari is organized every morning and evening at Bandipur. There are five vans in total each van can accommodate 20 people. ELEPHANT SAFARI IN BANDIPUR: Elephant Safari in Bandipur is the most attractive part for the enthusiastic tourists. You can view the entire area of the park over a tamed elephant. The duration of Elephant ride is 20 minutes and it's not a safari. The ride takes tourists around the park on an elephant. The Forest Department also organizes elephant rides of about an hour (or more) each on request, which takes you deeper into the forest.

Sitting on the top of the elephant in a wooden cushioned chair and moving through the undulated hilly terrains spot tigers, viewing the wild animals, rare avian fauna and spectacular plant fauna is really an adventurous experience for any traveler.
